About The Position

Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., has an opening for a full-time Code Enforcement Officer to support municipal code enforcement services in Cordova, South Carolina. This position performs field inspections and enforcement activities related to nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water waste, business licensing, and other municipal code and ordinance violations. The Code Enforcement Officer also works with property owners, residents, businesses, and municipal staff to investigate complaints, document violations, and promote voluntary compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to inspection, law enforcement, building inspection, land use, public administration, or other related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct independent field inspections and investigations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports and enforcement documentation.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with property owners, residents, businesses, contractors, municipal staff, and the public.
  • Ability to use computers and electronic systems for case management, research, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and investigate citizen complaints and reports of potential code violations.
  • Conduct field inspections of residential, commercial, vacant, and other properties.
  • Identify and document violations of applicable municipal codes and ordinances.
  • Communicate with property owners, residents, and businesses to explain violations and corrective requirements.
  • Issue warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, and orders to comply.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections and communications to obtain compliance.
  • Patrol assigned areas to identify nuisance conditions and ordinance violations.
  • Conduct field visits to businesses and construction sites for business license compliance.
  • Assist with matters involving applicable taxes and fees, including local hospitality and accommodations taxes.
  • Maintain accurate case files, inspection records, photographs, and other supporting documentation.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and evidence supporting enforcement actions.
  • Appear at hearings or in court and provide testimony when required.
  • Identify and monitor vacant properties for graffiti, vandalism, unauthorized activity, and other violations.
  • Interpret and explain municipal codes and ordinances to property owners, businesses, contractors, and the public.
  • Assist with researching and updating municipal codes, forms, and enforcement processes as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
