About The Position

The City of Edinburg is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer I to perform functions within the Health and Code Department. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with city codes in commercial and residential locations. The position involves conducting on-site inspections, responding to complaints, and providing assistance and support to residents and businesses. Requirements

High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.
One (1) year of experience in code enforcement or related field.
Must obtain Code Enforcement Officer License from a recognized agency within one (1) year of employment.
Must obtain Food Manager Certification within one (1) year of employment.
Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attentiveness to detail.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Dependability.

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in general studies
Three (3) years' experience in Code Enforcement and Health Food Establishment Inspections.
Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance.
Approve restaurants, day care centers, school cafeterias, foster and adoption home applications, and grocery and convenience stores for opening.
Perform regular visits to Edinburg businesses and residential locations.
Respond to complaints filed by residents.
Inspect commercial and residential locations to ensure codes are being followed.
Provide assistance and support as needed.
Deliver excellent customer service to all customers.
