About The Position
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Department of Otolaryngology, is seeking a full-time audiologist specializing in cochlear implants. This role is crucial for a department that manages over 2000 cochlear implant patients and performs more than 200 implantations annually. The position involves active participation in NIH-funded hearing and cochlear implant research programs. The Department of Otolaryngology is a large department with six Otologists, six Pediatric Otolaryngologists, and 23 audiologists. Services are provided at the main MUSC campus in Charleston and satellite locations.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (AuD and/or PhD).
- Clinical and academic experience with cochlear implants and hearing aids.
- Appropriate certification and licensure.
- PhD/MD or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Providing diagnostic and therapeutic audiology services for the cochlear implant and hearing aid programs.
- Conducting evaluations and determining cochlear implant candidacy.
- Performing intra-operative testing.
- Programming cochlear implants post-operatively.
- Participating in and managing cochlear implant research, including data collection, analysis, and patient recruitment.
- Teaching Otolaryngology residents.
- Supervising AuD students.
