About The Position

Set up, operate, and monitor cobots specifically designed for welding tasks. This involves loading parts, programming the cobot's welding path, inspecting weld quality, and performing minor adjustments to ensure consistent and accurate welds while working alongside the Cobot in a safe and collaborative manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to set up, operate, and monitor cobots for welding.
  • Proficiency in loading parts, programming cobot welding paths, and inspecting weld quality.
  • Capability to perform minor adjustments for consistent and accurate welds.
  • Experience with machine setup, including movement and placement of cobots and alignment with weld fixtures.
  • Skill in setting up and managing torches and safe operating parameters.
  • Ability to program using a cobot interface to create weld paths and sequences based on blueprints.
  • Capacity to monitor the cobot welding process, identify errors, and address deviations.
  • Experience with movement and placement of parts into fixtures and their removal after welding.
  • Ability to visually inspect welds for quality, ensuring proper penetration and bead appearance.
  • Skill in identifying and reporting welding defects using prescribed methods.
  • Capability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on cobots (wire feeding, nozzle replacement, sensor malfunction, programming errors).
  • Willingness to coordinate with maintenance for complex issues.
  • Commitment to working in a safe and efficient manner using all required personal protective equipment and safety devices.
  • Active involvement in Continuous Improvement, 6S, and STW activities.
  • Ability to contribute to a team effort.
  • Ability to maintain an organized and clean work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Machine set up including movement and placement of Cobot where needed and ensuring proper alignment with the weld fixtures.
  • Set up and manage torches and safe operating parameters.
  • Program using the Cobot interface to create weld paths and sequences based on the blueprints of the fixtures.
  • Monitor the Cobot welding process during operation, identifying and addressing errors and deviations.
  • Movement and placement of parts into fixture and subsequent removal after weld.
  • Visually inspect welds for quality ensuring proper penetration and bead appearance.
  • Identify and report welding defects using prescribed method (OEE, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on Cobot, including wire feeding, nozzles replacement and minor issues such as sensor malfunction or programming errors. Coordinate with maintenance to address more complex issues.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner using all personal protective, safety equipment and devices that are required, in accordance with all STW documentation (if STW is not developed for any process within this job, proper training techniques must be followed).
  • Be actively involved in Continuous Improvement; promote and sustain any and all CI, 6S and STW activities.
  • Contribute to a team effort.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
