About The Position

Tyson Foods is seeking a Cobb Laying House Worker for their Sweetwater Farm location. This role is responsible for various tasks related to egg collection, bird management, and maintaining the cleanliness of the laying house and surrounding grounds. The position requires adherence to strict biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety protocols. Applicants must meet attendance and disciplinary requirements and be willing to perform the physical demands of the job. This is a first-shift position.

Requirements

  • No disciplinary actions within the last 6 months.
  • Attendance point level <= 6.
  • 6 months in current area unless promoting (less than 6 months is allowable for promotion).
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly stoop/bend over to floor level to collect eggs up to 300 times per shift.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Must regularly push or pull up to 500 lbs. (wheeled feed cart).
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species.
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level </= 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the TM is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.

Responsibilities

  • Collects eggs from egg table and floor, recording the number of eggs laid.
  • Observes, grades, and cleans eggs, recording egg numbers and distributing or disposing of them according to Cobb standards.
  • Weighs feed, handles birds, and weighs birds according to schedules.
  • Changes and cleans nest pads, dusts nests, cleans walls and ceilings, maintains the egg room, and adds/changes litter.
  • Records information such as egg numbers, bird weight, medications, feed intake, mortality, and production percentage.
  • Houses birds in designated pens, loads birds for processing, and mows/weedeats grounds.
  • Inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing them weekly.
  • Performs sanitation of breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Properly euthanizes selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy.
