About The Position

This position is responsible for collecting eggs, handling birds, maintaining the facility, and performing other related duties to ensure the smooth operation of the laying house. The role requires adherence to strict biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety protocols. The work involves significant physical activity and exposure to various environmental conditions. Requirements

Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level
Must use safe lifting techniques.
Must regularly stoop/bend over to floor level to collect eggs up to 300 times per shift.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets, tools, and trash can.
Must regularly push or pull up to 500 lbs. (wheeled feed cart)
Regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
Willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Collects eggs from egg table, picks up eggs from floor, and records number of eggs laid (35%)
Collects and handles eggs by observing/grades/cleans and records egg numbers distributes or disposes according to Cobb standard (15%)
Weighs feed, handles birds and weighs birds according to schedules (10%)
Changes and cleans nest pads, dusts nests, cleans walls and ceilings, maintains egg room in a clean state and performs other routine housekeeping duties; add/change litter (10%)
Records information according to instructions such as egg numbers, bird weight, medications, feed intake, mortality, and production percentage. (5%)
Houses birds, places in designated pens per housing instructions. Loads birds for processing. Mows/Weedeats grounds on the farm. (20%)
Inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)
