About The Position

This role provides coordination, guidance, and direction to functional leads, focusing on paint activities. Key responsibilities include managing inspection call-outs, surface preparation, and paint application to ensure milestone achievement and cost/schedule performance. The position also involves training craft personnel in painting responsibilities, coordinating and resolving production work sequence conflicts related to painting, and maintaining a daily presence to monitor safety, housekeeping, work progress, and staff performance. The coordinator will ensure work aligns with the published schedule, conduct meetings, and perform validation of status reporting for Earned Value Management processes. Compliance with quality procedures, contract requirements, and regulatory body guides is essential. The role requires daily communication with the Project Manager to report status, issues, and implement corrective actions, as well as monitoring resource requirements and the use of rework and lessons learned processes for continuous improvement. Support for executive briefings and reporting is also expected.

Requirements

  • Amp/NACE level 2 certification required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of shipyard experience in blasting and painting operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of shipyard experience in a management capacity.
  • Working knowledge of NAV-SEA 631, 009-32, and Coast Guard contract coating specifications.
  • Familiarity with F718 data sheets for all marine manufactured coatings.
  • Familiarity with all blasting and painting equipment and inspection instruments required to perform any and all coating operations.
  • Proficiency in reading paint drawings for multiple contracts.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Willingness to work irregular and sometimes lengthy work schedules.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen.
  • Willing to submit to a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coordination, guidance, and direction to functional leads with a focus on paint activities including inspection call outs, surface prep, and paint application.
  • Focus on milestone achievement and cost and schedule performance.
  • Take a lead role in training and teaching craft personnel assigned painting responsibilities in conjunction with Fit-Out management.
  • Coordinate, mediate, and resolve craft-specific production work sequence conflicts related to constraints that affect painting of lockouts and spaces onboard ships.
  • Maintain a daily presence regarding work in progress to monitor safety, housekeeping, work progress, and staff performance.
  • Conduct and attend meetings as required.
  • Ensure work in progress is in accordance with the published schedule sequence and that production schedules are reasonable and achievable.
  • Perform random validation of status reporting against actual work being performed to ensure accuracy for Earned Value Management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality procedures and documents with emphasis on all coatings-related procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure required compliance with regulatory body and classification society guides, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain daily communication and interaction with the Project Manager to report status and issues.
  • Initiate and follow through with required variance analysis and associated corrective action plans.
  • Monitor and validate resource requirements for actuals against planned work in progress.
  • Monitor and validate the use of rework and lessons learned processes and initiatives to maintain and promote continuous improvement.
  • Support executive briefings, meetings, tours, and reporting as requested by the Project Manager.
