About The Position

This is an entry-level job intended to provide training opportunities for the development of individuals’ mechanical and coating skills needed to progress within the Occupational Group 583 job structure. The role requires planning and performing pre and post coating operations on production, overhaul, or developmental parts, and assisting others responsible for operating and maintaining coating equipment. The individual will work from verbal, written, and electronically generated instructions to set up, adjust, and operate a wide variety of manual and numerically-controlled auxiliary equipment in support of coating operations within an assigned area. Assignments may include non-atmospheric ovens and furnaces, wet and dry media, cleaning and shot-peen equipment, where methods and processes are developed and closely controlled. Within the scope and skill level of this job description, the individual will assist others responsible for new part process tryouts, run test pieces, and re-operate rejected parts, following prescribed repair instructions. The role involves checking work both visually and with provided gages, and assisting others responsible for the set-up, operation, changeovers, and maintenance on a variety of complex coating equipment. Additionally, the role includes performing masking and de-masking operations, assembling and removing parts into holding fixtures, cleaning out coating chambers during changeovers, and cleaning and making minor repairs to fixtures. Routine servicing throughout the assigned area will be performed following specified procedures and written instructions to ensure equipment operates properly. Difficulties will be referred to a leader or supervisor. The role may involve training for, obtaining, and maintaining licenses, operator permits, and certifications within the assigned area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing / industrial / aerospace experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or graduation from certified program
  • Minimum 2 years coating experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ trades experience.
