About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking individuals to transform the future of flight by designing, building, and servicing engines. This is an entry-level position designed to provide training in mechanical and coating skills, preparing individuals for advancement within the Occupational Group 583 job structure. The role involves planning and executing pre and post-coating operations on production, overhaul, or developmental parts, and assisting with the operation and maintenance of coating equipment. Responsibilities include working from various instructions to set up, adjust, and operate a range of manual and numerically-controlled auxiliary equipment in support of coating operations. Assignments may include working with non-atmospheric ovens and furnaces, wet and dry media, cleaning, and shot-peen equipment, where methods and processes are developed and closely controlled. The position also involves assisting with new part process tryouts, running test pieces, re-operating rejected parts according to repair instructions, and performing visual and gauge checks. Additionally, the role includes assisting with the setup, operation, changeovers, and maintenance of complex coating equipment, performing masking and de-masking, assembling and removing parts from fixtures, cleaning coating chambers, and performing minor repairs to fixtures. Routine servicing of equipment according to specified procedures and instructions is also required, with difficulties to be referred to a leader or supervisor. Tasks outside of specific listings may be assigned to support department objectives and skill development. Training for and maintenance of licenses, operator permits, and certifications may be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing /industrial/aerospace experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or graduation from certified program
  • Minimum 2 years coating experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ trades experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform pre and post coating operations on production, overhaul or developmental parts.
  • Assist others responsible for operating and maintaining coating equipment.
  • Set up, adjust and operate a wide variety of manual and numerically-controlled auxiliary equipment in support of coating operations.
  • Perform masking and de-masking operations.
  • Assemble and remove parts into holding fixtures.
  • Clean out coating chambers during changeovers.
  • Clean and make minor repairs to fixtures.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions.
  • Refer difficulties to leader or supervisor.
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.
