About The Position

Excelitas is a global technology leader focused on delivering market-driven solutions for illumination, optical, detection, and imaging needs. We are currently seeking a Coater Technician responsible for managing the flow of optical components from cleaning to coating chamber operations. This role also involves performing cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated components. Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, specializes in manufacturing ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings, and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense. The facility offers design and engineering resources, optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology, and an in-house metrology lab.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Teamwork – works effectively within the team.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment
At least 2 years of work experience in a process manufacturing environment is desired

Responsibilities

Keeping optical components moving from cleaning operations to coating chamber operations.
Perform cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated components.
Cleans, inspects and measures more advanced/complex substrates to ensure quality.
Packages optical components
Sets up tooling
Loads parts into chambers
Starts coating runs
May perform tooling fit checks/reviews
Able to read and comprehend prints for determining specs on surface quality, substrate dimensions, arrow marking for side one and side two, packaging requirements
May begin training and/or perform second check chamber start
Understanding of non-conforming material and how to scrap material
Understanding of substrate material
Inspection of normal product
Trained on ISO / mil / final inspection
Raising tech issues with tooling, specs, process sheets, etc
Understanding defect types
Other tasks as assigned
