Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Ability to operate fuel handling equipment.
Ability to operate heavy equipment.
Mechanical ability.
Knowledge of fuel-handling equipment and the layout and operation of the generating station to which assigned.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Basic computer skills required.
According to location, may be required to operate forklifts.

Responsibilities

Operates fuel and ash-handling equipment, such as conveyors, tractors, bulldozers, cranes, crushers, locomotives, ash trucks, cranes and etc.
Keeps equipment lubricated and takes care of minor maintenance needs at generating stations.
Cares for, and keeps bearing and equipment lubricated.
Keeps the coal handling equipment neat, clean, and operating properly.
Assures that all major and auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
Assists in maintaining railway tracks and fuel handling structures.
Spots and loads or unloads coal cars, barges, or trucks.
Performs switching of railway cars as needed.
Maintains and grooms coal pile.
May be required to direct and instruct other employees.
Performs maintenance work of ordinary nature when not operating.
Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
Assists in the loading of ecostone, fly ash and bottom ash.
Perform preventive maintenance activities.
Calibrate and zero conveyor scales as needed.
Perform routine yard maintenance.
Perform simple test on coal to determine where to set crushers.
