About The Position

Guardian Catholic School is seeking an experienced Coach to serve as an assistant for the season. Under the direction of the school principal and designated Athletic Director, the Coach supports the School and the Diocese of St. Augustine in their mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. The Coach instructs and works with athletes to prepare them for competition, helping them perform to their best individually and as a team. The Coach should understand the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport, as well as sports equipment, physical fitness, and safety, and create an environment where the team can use its skills and abilities to their maximum potential.

Requirements

• Complete a background check.
• Complete the Protecting God's Children (PGC) class.
• Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
• Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
• Be a self-starter, well-organized, and a team player.
• Be available for evening and weekend work as necessary.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Ability to meet the listed physical and activity requirements, including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.

• Prior coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the School and Diocese of St. Augustine in their mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment.
• Instruct and work with athletes to prepare them for competition.
• Help athletes perform to their best individually and as a team.
• Establish a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and positive self-image.
• Set high standards for student behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing School policies and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in dress and general behavior, following dress code standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
