About The Position

The Quality Engineering Process Improvement Co-op will support the Quality Engineering Services team in driving operational excellence, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality operations. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of scalable solutions. The co-op will contribute to projects focused on efficiency, quality system effectiveness, data analysis, and process optimization while gaining hands-on experience in medical device manufacturing and quality systems. This position offers valuable exposure to Lean methodologies, process improvement tools, and cross-functional collaboration within a regulated environment.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Minimum sophomore standing at an accredited college or university.
Availability for the Co-op duration Spring: January – June 2027
Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship needs.

Nice To Haves

Coursework or project experience related to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Engineering, Statistics, Process Improvement, Operations Management, or Data Analytics.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Visio, Copilot, or similar data analysis and process mapping tools.
Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, or Continuous Improvement principles.
Previous internship, co-op, research project, leadership position, or involvement in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or operations-related organizations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and interpret data.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement and driving solutions.

Responsibilities

Analyze quality and operational process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
Support continuous improvement projects focused on quality engineering processes, manufacturing quality systems, and operational efficiency.
Develop process maps, value stream maps, standard work documentation, and visual management tools to support process standardization efforts.
Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional partners to gather requirements and assess process improvement opportunities.
Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate project progress.
Conduct root cause analysis and assist with identifying corrective and preventive actions for process-related challenges.
Support process excellence initiatives by participating in Kaizen events, process observations, workshops, and project team meetings.
Document project findings, recommendations, and implementation plans while ensuring alignment with quality system requirements.
