About The Position

We are currently seeking a Co-op, Internal Audit student for the Fall 2026 term (September 7 – December 18) within our Internal Audit team. This 16-week opportunity offers hands-on experience in a professional internal audit environment, working closely with audit professionals across the Emera group of companies. In this role, you’ll gain valuable experience working alongside current and prospective CPAs (Chartered Professional Accountants), CIAs (Certified Internal Auditors), and CISAs (Certified Information System Auditors), making this an excellent opportunity to explore a career in audit.

Requirements

Motivated and detail-oriented student in their 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Accounting
Interest in pursuing a career in internal audit or an accounting/audit designation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks across teams and deadlines
High attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities

Support audit engagements and SOX compliance activities, including planning, executing, and documenting internal audits
Assist with walkthroughs, testing of controls, and evidence collection
Analyze business processes and controls to identify risks, inefficiencies, or gaps
Contribute to the development of clear and practical audit recommendations
Participate in internal team initiatives and quarterly reporting responsibilities
