About The Position

This Co-Op position in Custom Design Marketing (CDM) involves assisting the team with technical review and data entry for NEMA frame and above NEMA frame industrial motors. The role supports marketing efforts by collecting data for market analysis based on quotes and orders. The intern will gain an understanding of the engineering behind Nidec's products and its relation to Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience.

Requirements

  • Working towards an Engineering Degree - Pre-Engineering
  • Technically inclined
  • Fluent in English written and spoken
  • Conveys information clearly and effectively with writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Must possess analytical skills
  • Works well with a team or individually
  • Must be a self-starter, curious, and willing to investigate and resolve issues and proactively suggest improvements.
  • Entering last two years of college

  • Familiarity with electrical motor application preferred
  • Prior Co-op Experience/Internship would be preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Custom Design Marketing (CDM) team in reviewing technical specifications from consulting engineers and matching them to Nidec's product offerings.
  • Perform cost analysis of products and features, and work with Marketing/Product Management to update prices as needed.
  • Research, monitor, and post projects for the Sales and CDM teams.
  • Identify personal training requirements and communicate them to the immediate supervisor.
  • Adhere to support workflow requirements to achieve Service Level Agreements.
  • Interact via email and phone with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management to resolve issues.
  • Assist in data entry and writing quotations for customers, including detailed exceptions and clarifications.
  • Update historical dimension prints into the Engineering/CDM library.
  • Review quoting process Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by interviewing team members and shadowing quoting steps to write clear, step-by-step SOPs for various quoting scenarios.
  • Update and maintain standard quoting templates, proposing standardized versions with appropriate comments and inclusions.
  • Collect lessons learned from recent quoting/order issues, customer complaints, or project successes for an internal newsletter.
  • Gather and categorize customer feedback from emails, surveys, or interviews with Sales related to quoting, product offerings, and prices.
  • Assist in organizing shared drives and documents for the Document Control and Centralization Project.
  • Assist with cost analysis of new and existing products for the Motor Feature Cost Impact Analysis.
  • Create a tool to identify if a requested motor can be quoted as Stock, Conversion, and/or ETO.
  • Update presentations and create a simplified guide/file on NEMA and IEC motor design differences, researching and comparing standards, frame sizes, and terminologies.
