About The Position

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineering Co-op to join our team. This role is ideal for current students in their 3rd year or above seeking hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing within a dynamic and collaborative aerospace organization. The position is expected to a full year with Full-Time hours during the summer and part-time hours while school is in session. Working with experienced professionals in the Design Engineering Department the ideal candidate will be responsible for working in a safe manner, adhering to all company safety policies, be a champion for safety , contributes to the success of manufacturing operations by working with Design Engineers and Leadership teams in the design, development, and update of product drawings, work instructions, routers, travelers, and projects in methodologies to achieve business objectives. This internship is on-site and can be part-time (20+hours/ week) or full-time, with the schedule determined based on availability and course load.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • A wide range of engineering knowledge with an emphasis on mechanics, materials, machining methods, mathematics and physics.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a safe manner, adheres to safety policies and procedures, and ensures those working in the same area are working safely.
  • Supports in analyzing research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.
  • Works with mechanical engineers, research personnel, sales dept. or customer to clarify or help resolve problems and develops design using CAD tools and other available software.
  • Participates in the preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to participate in the determination of designs meeting functional and performance specifications.
  • Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
  • Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
