About The Position

The Engineering Department at Hamilton Health Sciences provides facilities maintenance services to all buildings, wards, and departments across multiple sites. The department comprises various trades, including Stationary Engineers, Electricians, Plumbers, Millwrights, Carpenters, and Painters, all contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the facilities. The Co-generation/Building Operator, under the direction of the Chief Engineer, is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, shutdown and start-up, chemical treatment, operational checks, and testing of all Power Generation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, instrumentation, plumbing, mechanical, fire alarm, computer, and associated equipment, controls, and systems. The primary focus will be on the preventive and demand maintenance of all Co-generation Plants. This role may be assigned to work at any HHS site.

Requirements

  • Current Province of Ontario Stationary Engineer Third Class Certificate of Qualification
  • Minimum of five years experience as a qualified Tradesperson
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and testing of buildings with computerized building control systems for all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, instrumentation, plumbing, mechanical, fire alarm, computer and associated equipment, controls and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Demonstrated ability to use the tools and equipment of the trade
  • Must be willing to provide own hand tools of the trade
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in areas that are cold, hot, dusty, dirty, noisy, amongst machinery, at elevated levels and have cramped quarters
  • Ability to crawl, lifts heavy items, climb and work from ladders and scaffolding

Responsibilities
