About The Position

JLL is hiring a Building Operator to manage two client properties in London, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced facilities professional who takes pride in delivering exceptional service. As the sole operator for these buildings (located 15 minutes apart), you'll take full ownership of building system repairs, preventive maintenance, and contractor oversight. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations for a portfolio that primarily serves medical tenants and key anchor businesses—clients who depend on uninterrupted building performance. A strong background in HVAC and mechanical equipment is essential. You must have reliable transportation to travel between properties and be comfortable with 24/7 on-call responsibility. Flexibility to support nearby properties as needed is also important.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of building in operator experience, in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Applied working knowledge of building automation systems for mechanical, operations, maintenance, security, and HVAC
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Building Environmental Systems (BES) Class I & II Certification, 5th Class Power Engineer Certification, or BOMI Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT®) Designation

Responsibilities

  • Perform proactive repairs and maintenance on all building mechanical and physical systems to ensure efficient operations and a well-maintained facility.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC, plumbing, life safety, lighting, and automation systems including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Complete required inspections, logs, meter readings, and emergency system tests.
  • Act as Fire Warden during emergencies.
  • Dispatch, monitor, and supervise contractors during regular and after-hours work as directed.
  • Maintain 24-hour on-call availability and perform emergency snow/ice removal.
  • Manage site cleanliness and maintain organized mechanical areas.
  • Support HVAC commissioning, energy management initiatives, and cost-saving projects.
  • Participate in health and safety programs including hazard assessments and safe work procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service with expedient response to tenant needs, including minor repairs and charge-back management.
  • Assist with supervision of tenant buildouts and capital projects, ensuring standards for procedures, timelines, and quality control are met.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
