About The Position

Charleston Birth Place is the only CABC-accredited CNM freestanding birth center in South Carolina, located near historic Charleston and its beaches. Established in 2008, we are a CNM practice that has assisted over 3,500 families seeking a low-intervention out-of-hospital birth. We serve a diverse population, including military families and the uninsured. Our services include attending births at our 9,000 sq. ft birth center and the Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion at MUSC. We offer extended prenatal care, labor support, water birth, and postpartum follow-up. Our Nest program provides chiropractic care, pelvic floor PT, mental health counseling, IBCLC consulting, and various classes. Wellness services include annual exams, contraception, IUD placement, gynecological visits, and preconception planning. We are looking for a midwife who values autonomy, shared decision-making, and physiologic birth.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-year experience, preferably in a freestanding birth center or alongside midwifery unit.
• Active or temporary SC APRN license.
• Current DEA.
• BLS certification.
• NRP certification.

• New grad with strong labor and delivery experience would be considered.

Responsibilities

• Attend births at a freestanding birth center and a hospital-affiliated women's pavilion.
• Provide labor support and water birth services.
• Conduct extended prenatal care appointments.
• Offer frequent postpartum follow-up.
• Provide annual exams, contraception, IUD placement, gynecological problem visits, and preconception planning.
• Collaborate with other wellness service providers within the Nest program.
