About The Position

Prince Industries is seeking CNC Operators for our Turning / Swiss Department, with openings available on both first and second shifts. The second shift operates from 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM. New hires will be required to complete 2-4 weeks of training on the first shift.

Requirements

  • Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow simple oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to perform intermediate shop math skills and calculations (fraction conversions, divide, multiply, percentages).
  • Basic computer skills for inquiry, data collection, or input.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the production field.
  • Must be able to complete 2-4 weeks of training on first shift.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. persons—defined as U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and U.S. nationals—are eligible for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of related machining operation experience in the field or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates production machinery to print specifications.
  • Performs a variety of tasks using established guidelines with limited judgment.
  • Visually and dimensionally inspects production parts for defects and reports them to the supervisor.
  • Verifies workpiece conformance to specifications using measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges.
  • Uses statistical process control techniques.
  • Reads blueprints for dimensions, tolerances (GD&T), and other information.
  • Reads and interprets the Job Traveler for details such as the number of workpieces, job rate, and sequence of operations.
  • Understands and follows Prince Industries quality certifications (ISO, QS) relevant to the position.
  • Independently performs machine operation duties including machine startup, adjusting tooling, replacing broken or worn tooling, identifying non-functioning safety equipment or unsafe conditions, and conducting daily preventative maintenance checks (coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleaning).
  • Secures all necessary tooling and instruments.
  • Completes job-related paperwork, including tags, inspection documents, and production logs.
  • Cleans spills and grease spots on the shop floor.
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality, protection, and storage of completed products (e.g., layer packing, rust preventative oils, box weight).
  • Identifies necessary tooling for safe and efficient daily operation (insert changes, drills, work holding).
  • Proficient in the use of basic inspection equipment, including height gauges and optical comparators.
  • Able to perform simple machine set-ups and adjustments (e.g., remove/set tools or diamonds, reset jaws, collets, guides).
  • Transports finished materials manually or using a pallet jack to the area indicated on the Job Traveler.
  • Maintains established production rates and reports discrepancies immediately to the supervisor.
  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Positions and secures the workpiece in the holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area.
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Observes all necessary safety procedures (safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines).
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, which may include department transfers to meet production needs.
