About The Position

The CNC Specialist manufactures detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions using computer- or mechanically controlled machine tools and equipment. The role sets up and operates mills, lathes, drill presses, power tools, CNC equipment, grinders, jig bores, and other machining equipment. It uses mathematical and geometrical calculations and precision measuring instruments to maintain tolerances, install and adjust cutting tools and workpieces, monitor machine feed and speed, and produce parts to specifications. The specialist measures, examines, and tests completed products, deburrs parts, and may perform complex machining for prototype and experimental work. The role may build first-article or prototype equipment and mechanical devices from raw materials using sketches, discussions, and conceptual designs. It assists engineers with product design, development, and evaluation, recommends product or manufacturing improvements, helps develop prototype production, and may design or improve equipment, tools, and fixtures or develop CNC software programs.
