About The Position

Berry Metal Company is seeking a hands-on CNC Programming Specialist to solve manufacturing challenges, improve processes, and support production on the shop floor. The role creates and optimizes CNC programs for 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills using Mastercam, and supports the launch of advanced machining capabilities. The specialist works with machinists, engineering, and production teams to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow, contributing to products used in the global steelmaking industry.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of CNC programming experience or equivalent training and hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in Mastercam, including programming 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills.
• Experience operating CNC machines, including Haas, Mazak, and milling/turning equipment.
• Ability to interpret, verify, and edit G&M Code.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.

• Experience with ERP systems for production planning and control.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and document CNC programs for 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills using Mastercam.
• Review and improve existing CNC programs to align with current engineering drawings, reduce run times, and increase machine output.
• Create CNC setup sheets to help machine operators set up jobs accurately and efficiently.
• Support implementation of a 5-axis CNC machine by developing programs, setup sheets, and standardized procedures.
• Collaborate with machinists and engineering teams to develop practical workholding solutions and improve manufacturability.
• Maintain tooling inventory, evaluate tooling needs, and recommend upgrades that support quality, safety, and productivity.
• Train and support production team members on new technologies, setup practices, and process improvements.
• Assist with job routing and quoting by estimating machine hours and identifying efficiency improvements.
• Troubleshoot routing, setup, and machining challenges with production personnel and help implement cost-saving solutions.
• Assist with training new machine operators and share best practices across the team.
