About The Position

GPJ is hiring an on-site CNC Programmer for its Las Vegas, Nevada office. The role requires reporting to the office at least five days per week. The CNC Programmer creates manufacturable CAD models, nested panel sheets, NC code files, DXF profiles, beam saw cut lists, exploded-view drawings, and part labels using CAD and CAM applications, including Cimtech RouterCIM/SolidCIM, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor. The CNC Programmer works with staff engineers, fabrication project managers, fabrication shop personnel, and graphics production teams to process scopes of work and complete action items on time and within budget. The role supports efficient manufacturing and high-quality customer products by ensuring CNC programs suit the machines and shop requirements. It involves following through directly with shop leadership, machine operators, carpenters, and metal fabricators, and coordinating with the CNC department to streamline programming, reduce redundancy, and maintain efficient workflows. The role contributes to fabrication and manufacturing operations by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines; interpreting engineering drawings and models; and inspecting parts. Troubleshooting and proactive maintenance help minimize downtime and optimize production output.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of recent, full-time 3D modeling experience using AutoCAD and/or Inventor in a work environment similar to GPJ's business, such as cabinet making, millwork, or another exhibit house.
  • Extensive experience programming CNC machines using G-code, CAM software such as Mastercam or GibbsCAM, and CAD/CAM systems.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machining centers, lathes, mills, and other CNC equipment.
  • Strong CAD skills and the ability to understand part assembly and how tooling is applied to different materials and machine operations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications to produce accurate parts.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and machining strategies for tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
  • Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve CNC programming, tooling, and machine performance issues.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in programming, machine setup, and inspection of machined parts.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, meet production deadlines, and optimize machine utilization.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with machine operators, engineers, and other team members.
  • Ability to work extended hours, possibly on weekends and holidays, during frequently occurring peak periods.
  • Demonstrated urgency, adaptability, communication, collaboration, thoroughness, organization, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Produce manufacturable CAD models, nested panel sheets, NC code files, DXF profiles, beam saw cut lists, exploded-view drawings, and part labels.

  • Work with engineers, fabrication project managers, shop personnel, and graphics production teams to process scopes of work and complete action items on time and within budget.
  • Ensure CNC programs are appropriate for the machines and shop requirements, following through with shop leadership, machine operators, carpenters, and metal fabricators as needed.
  • Coordinate with CNC department teammates to streamline programming, minimize redundancy, and maintain efficient workflows.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and models, write efficient CNC programs, and inspect machined parts to meet quality and precision standards.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programming, tooling, and machine performance issues and support proactive maintenance to minimize downtime.

Benefits

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) providing employees with an ownership interest.
