About The Position

Innomotics is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer for its Norwood, Ohio facility, which manufactures engineered-to-order large industrial electric motors. The role supports advanced machining operations by developing, optimizing, and implementing CNC programs for complex turning, milling, and multi-axis mill-turn applications. It involves the full machining process, from interpreting engineering models and programming in NX CAM through machine setup, prove-out, and production support. The programmer works closely with manufacturing engineering, machinists, production leadership, and related teams to improve processes, machine utilization, productivity, and quality.

Requirements

  • Technical degree, machining certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX CAM programming software.
  • Experience programming CNC lathes, multi-axis machining centers, and mill-turn equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, and machining parameters.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and precision machining requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs and machining processes.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience with WFL Mill-Turn machines.
  • Experience programming turret lathes.
  • Experience with vertical and horizontal milling centers.
  • Experience with Siemens CNC controls and multi-axis machining.
  • Familiarity with Siemens ShopMill and ShopTurn programming and operating environments.
  • Experience machining large components, including shafts and other heavy industrial components.
  • Experience with machining process development and production optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, create, and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM.
  • Program complex machining operations for lathes, multitask machines, and milling centers.
  • Use Siemens CNC controls, including ShopMill and ShopTurn, to program, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize machining operations.
  • Develop and modify programs directly at machine controls when necessary.
  • Develop multi-axis machining strategies for complex parts, including shafts and rotor cores.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T requirements, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Determine machining methods, tooling, cutting parameters, and machining sequences.
  • Develop efficient tool paths that reduce cycle times while meeting dimensional accuracy and surface-finish requirements.
  • Support machine setups, prove-outs, first-piece inspections, and production launches.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with machinists, manufacturing engineers, and production supervisors to resolve machining challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cycle-time reduction, and improved machine efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate CNC programs, tooling documentation, and manufacturing process records.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to CNC operators and machining personnel.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, and customers to achieve business objectives while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
