Set up and operate numerical control program machines to fabricate parts. This role involves planning numerical control programs to control the contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools. The CNC Programmer will analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions and configuration of cuts, and determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. They will compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outline the sequence of operations. This position requires the ability to write instruction sheets and cutter lists, and to write programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database. The CNC Programmer will also compare encoded tape or computer printouts with original program sheets to assure accuracy and revise programs as needed. A trial run will be observed to prove the programmed instructions. Regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work on-site and overtime are essential. The role also requires the ability to work cooperatively with others, deal respectfully with various stakeholders, perform multiple tasks concurrently, work in a fast-paced environment, and interchange with others in the department.
