The CNC Programmer & Set Up creates CNC programs for production and prototype parts made from iron, steel, and aluminum. The role supports machine operator training and coaching, fixture building, and troubleshooting equipment and processes. It improves existing production processes to extend tool life, reduce cycle time, and improve operator comfort, while working with maintenance and quality personnel to support and improve plant operations. The position also sets up fixtures on machining centers, loads CNC programs, and cleans and inspects fixtures removed from the machining centers. The job requires the ability to stand, kneel, climb, and repeatedly lift up to 75 pounds during a 10-hour workday. Shop conditions may be cold in winter and hot in summer. Nights and weekends may be required to meet program objectives and timing. Shop-floor safety requirements include wearing non-tinted safety glasses and safety-toe shoes or boots, and wearing earplugs at machining centers. Forklifts and cranes are used; gloves are worn as needed. Earbuds and radios are not permitted on the shop floor.
