The CNC Programmer & Set Up creates CNC programs for production and prototype parts made from iron, steel, and aluminum. The role supports machine operator training and coaching, fixture building, and troubleshooting existing equipment and processes. It also improves production processes to extend tool life, reduce cycle time, and improve operator comfort, while working with maintenance and quality personnel to support plant operations. The position sets up fixtures on machining centers, loads CNC programs, and cleans and inspects fixtures removed from machining centers. The successful candidate can create and modify machining-related files and drawings, work with manual machining and tool-room equipment, and set up CNC machines to produce dimensionally correct parts. The role requires the ability to stand, kneel, climb, and repeatedly lift up to 75 pounds during a 10-hour workday. Working conditions may be cold in winter and hot in summer. Candidates must be willing to work nights and weekends if required to meet program objectives and timing. Shop-floor safety requirements include wearing non-tinted safety glasses and safety-toe shoes or boots, and wearing ear plugs at machining centers. Forklifts and cranes are used; gloves are worn as needed. Earbuds and radios are not permitted on the shop floor.
