About The Position

A CNC Programmer/Set-up operator sets up and operates conventional and special-purpose machinery to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machineability of materials, and layout techniques.

Requirements

  • Must have your own tools and measuring equipment
  • Must be able to work required shift and be a steady, reliable worker as this is a highly visible position-requires the ability and willingness to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality record.
  • Must be able to read and understand procedures and diagrams
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot areas of concerns daily during the in-process manufacturing phase
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or occasional Saturdays if required
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of Sheet Metal and Fabrication Machinery
  • Must have STRONG mathematical skills
  • Experience using various tools, like hand tools, pneumatic tools, and measuring tools
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to learn quickly and to retain/apply training skills to job duties.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional, cooperative demeanor, conduct and working relationship with management, supervisors, and employees.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/job duties, to adapt quickly to workplace changes/new job duties, & to complete required tasks within allotted time frames and cut-off dates.

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Operates variety of machine tools and equipment such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses and saws
  • Performs a wide range of turning, facing chamfering, cutting off and similar machining operations, on a variety of castings, parts, special orders, rework, re-machining, etc. of various materials.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, etc.
  • Adjusts machines and ensures proper set up to produce quality product
  • Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out – of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Inspects work using precision measuring tools to ensure all parts meet drawing specifications.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly and performs wall work in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
  • Performs work under general to minimal supervision depending on skill level/experience
  • Change and optimize G-Code and M-Code controls
  • Perform speed and feed calculations
  • Conduct equipment checks, maintenance and cleaning daily
  • Document all set-up and work performed to meet product specifications
