CNC Programmer/Engineer II

Honda Racing Corporation USA•Santa Clarita, CA

About The Position

Develop advanced multi-axis CNC programs and manufacturing processes for complex, close-tolerance components supporting high-performance racing engine programs. Use CAD/CAM technology, engineering drawings, and 3D models to translate design requirements into safe, accurate, and efficient machining processes. The role combines advanced CNC programming with hands-on machining, fixture and tooling design, process improvement, and problem-solving. Develop and maintain Mastercam multi-axis CNC programs; turn drawings, models, and specifications into machining processes; create tooling, fixtures, cutting strategies, setup documentation, and manufacturing standards; and support program prove-out, setup, inspection, and component conformance. Optimize processes and collaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve issues and improve quality, workflow, and cost. Design fixtures, tooling, and gauges and develop programs and processes to manufacture them. Evaluate cutting tools and coordinate with suppliers. Set up and operate CNC machines, inspect first articles and finished parts, prove out and edit programs, monitor prototype and production machining, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment and work areas. The position involves physical work including bending, kneeling, crawling, working beneath suspended vehicles, engines, or equipment, standing, sitting, walking, lifting objects weighing 25 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements. Work may involve moving mechanical parts and vehicles, electrical current, high heat, and chemicals. The role also requires quick decisions, hazard awareness, planning, problem-solving, and coping with change and interactions with others.
