The CNC Process Engineer will analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the best method for production using existing manufacturing processes. This role involves creating, implementing, and troubleshooting CNC programs for new part startups using MasterCAM or Part Maker. The engineer will also determine the feasibility of designing new tooling or equipment, considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors. They will provide technical information regarding manufacturing processes, materials, and properties, and confer with customers to resolve design or process issues. Additionally, the role requires proficiency in working with customer drawings and models, creating and modifying models, and generating documentation for machinists. The engineer will direct and coordinate the manufacturing of prototype products, confer with vendors, and evaluate products against specifications. Knowledge of processes such as anodizing, chromate, and heat treat is important. Responsibilities include estimating production times, staffing, and costs, and conferring with management and staff to facilitate production. The role focuses on developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods to increase production levels while reducing costs, improving yields, quality, and safety. Troubleshooting process problems, identifying solutions to reduce downtime and maintenance costs, and developing/updating process procedures are key. A good working knowledge of metrology and understanding of SPC and Process Capability are required. The engineer will determine test methods and procedures for engineering changes, stay updated on new technologies, and assist in new product development. Technical presentations to customers and assistance with sales proposals are also part of the role.
