About The Position

The CNC/Plasma Table Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of CNC equipment, including a Plasma Drill and Plasma Table, to drill and/or cut predetermined sizes of steel sheets and/or holes and patterns into steel plates. The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, and delivery. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Requirements

  • 1 year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing setting
  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
  • The ability to operate overhead cranes
  • The ability to read a tape measure
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year previous experience setting up and running CNC machinery
  • 1 year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Responsibilities

  • Program the automatic operation of the plasma drill and/or table and verify dimensions from shop drawings
  • Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data
  • Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery
  • Use overhead crane to load/unload machinery
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors
  • Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
  • Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer
