About The Position

This position is responsible for setting up and operating an individual Large CNC machine tool. The operator will work with various Large CNC machine tools including mills, horizontal or vertical lathes, machining centers, and horizontal boring bars. The role involves working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals and requires adherence to standard work instructions and machine requirements. The operator will also be responsible for maintaining work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling, as well as keeping the machine clean and performing daily maintenance checks. Handling of materials will range from medium weight by hand to heavier materials by hoist or crane.

Requirements

• Ability to set up machines using tools and equipment needed according to standard work instructions and machine requirements.
• Ability to establish reference points and set offsets.
• Ability to make trial runs or prove out tapes as required.
• Ability to perform work to tolerances indicated.
• Ability to maintain standard work files, program files, fixtures, tooling, etc.
• Ability to keep machine clean and perform daily routine maintenance checks.
• Ability to handle medium weight materials by hand and heavier materials by hoist or crane.

• May be required to preset tools.
• May be required to perform other miscellaneous duties such as deburring, checking work, or presetting tools during machine cycle.
