CNC Operator - Large CNC Machining - 3rd Shift

About The Position

The primary function of this role is to set up and operate an individual Large CNC machine tool. The operator will work with various Large CNC machine tools including mills, horizontal or vertical lathes, machining centers, and horizontal boring bars. The role involves working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals and requires adherence to specific tolerances indicated on drawings and process documents. The operator will also be responsible for maintaining work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling, as well as keeping the machine clean and performing daily maintenance checks. Material handling will involve both manual lifting of medium weight materials and the use of hoists or cranes for heavier items.

Requirements

  • Ability to set up machines using appropriate tools and equipment according to standard work instructions and machine requirements.
  • Ability to establish reference points and set offsets.
  • Ability to make trial runs or prove out tapes.
  • Ability to perform work to specified tolerances.
  • Ability to deburr and check work.
  • Ability to preset tools.
  • Ability to maintain standard work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Ability to keep machine clean and perform daily routine maintenance checks.
  • Ability to handle medium weight materials by hand and heavier materials by hoist or crane.
  • Understanding of blueprints and process documents.
  • Familiarity with appropriate measuring instruments such as gages, micrometers, and indicators.
