CNC Operator - Initial Turn - 1st shift

About The Position

The CNC Operator sets up and operates CNC machines to produce products according to customer and work-instruction specifications. The position ensures appropriate tooling and computer programs are installed, monitors production runs, and makes adjustments when required. The operator verifies that finished work pieces meet specifications, prioritizes work according to lead instructions, and maintains a clean and safe work area. The role also includes responsible waste management, participation in recycling programs, and promoting energy conservation.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong mechanical skills.
Strong shop math skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
Ability to communicate and work well with others.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on occasion.
Ability to stand for extended periods, in two-hour periods.
Ability to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

Previous CNC machining experience or trade school graduate.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines for production runs.
Ensure the proper tooling and computer programs are installed for jobs.
Adjust machine feed and speed, change tooling, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction.
Monitor CNC machines during production runs and adjust programs as necessary.
Calculate machine speed and feed ratio and the size and position of cuts.
Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify finished work pieces conform to specifications.
Prioritize work according to lead instructions.
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and the work area.
Wear proper personal protective equipment while in shop work areas.
Manage waste responsibly, use proper containers, and participate in recycling programs.
Promote energy conservation.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.
