CNC Operator - Initial Turn - 1st shift

About The Position

The CNC Operator sets up and operates CNC machines to produce products according to customer and work-instruction specifications. The role includes preparing machines for production runs, monitoring machine operation, making adjustments when needed, and checking finished work pieces for conformance. The operator also maintains a clean work area, follows shop safety requirements, and supports responsible waste management and energy conservation.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong mechanical skills.
Strong shop math skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
Ability to communicate and work well with others.
Ability to lift 35 lbs. on occasion.
Ability to stand for extended periods, in two-hour periods.
Ability to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

Previous CNC machining experience or trade school graduate.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines for production runs.
Ensure the proper tooling and computer programs are installed for each job.
Adjust machine feed and speed, change tooling, and adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction.
Monitor CNC machines during production runs and adjust programs as necessary.
Calculate machine speed and feed ratio and the size and position of cuts.
Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify finished work pieces meet specifications.
Prioritize work according to lead instructions.
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and the work area.
Wear proper PPE while in shop work areas.
Manage waste responsibly, including using proper containers and participating in recycling programs.
Promote energy conservation.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.
