About The Position

We are looking for a CNC Operator to join our second shift manufacturing team at Bluefors in Syracuse, NY. In this role, you will play a key part in producing precision components used in advanced cryogenic systems that enable breakthroughs in quantum technology, scientific research, and other high-performance applications. This position is ideal for someone who has solid CNC machining experience, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment where continuous improvement is encouraged.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1+ year CNC machining or manufacturing experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Ability to set up and use precision measuring tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Ability to understand and work with G-code programming
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Dependability and strong work ethic
  • Commitment to safety and following procedures
  • Willingness to learn and continue technical development
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certificate in machining or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles is a plus
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience in precision or high-tolerance manufacturing environments

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts
  • Set machine controls for machining parameters including speed, feed, and coolant flow
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications
  • Measure, mark, and verify materials and parts using precision measuring tools
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and adjust controls to correct malfunctions or tool wear
  • Detect and replace worn or damaged cutting tools as needed
  • Assist with machine setups and changeovers based on instructions
  • Monitor and record tooling, raw materials, and supply usage
  • Maintain clean machines, tools, and organized work areas
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and support machine reliability
  • Complete first-piece inspections as required
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with quality standards
  • Participate in ongoing training and skill development
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
