About The Position

As a CNC Operator & Shop Technician, you’ll be part of our Prototype Manufacturing team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to program, set up, and operate CNC machines (including 4 & 5 axis mills, lathes, and multi-axis) to fabricate metal parts to precise specifications for prototypes and small production runs. You will receive and review CAD files and technical drawings from the engineering group for prototype and production projects. You will read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and part specifications to determine required dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations. You will program CNC machines using Mastercam software to create accurate, high-quality parts. You will select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job based on engineering requirements. You will inspect finished parts and prototypes for accuracy and quality using precision measuring tools and instruments. You will collaborate and communicate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturability and resolve design or production challenges. You will maintain detailed documentation of CNC programming, machine setups, material usage, and process improvements. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC machines, tooling, or production processes as they arise. You will ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by adhering to all company safety protocols and supporting general shop operations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a certificate or diploma program in CNC programming, machining, or a related field is preferred; or at least three (3) years of direct CNC programming experience using Mastercam or similar software.
  • 2+ years of hands-on CNC programming and operation experience, ideally with prototypes or low volume production.
  • Confident in reading and interpreting CAD models, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
  • Organized and systematic in handling materials, receiving, and delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail—including experience with precision measurement tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety practices and basic machine maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Collaborative team player who is genuinely invested in the success of the group, actively supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive, high-performing team environment.
  • Coachable person who looks for best practices in operations.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
