About The Position

The CNC Operator/Programmer shall be capable of designing, setting up, adjusting, programming and operating CNC equipment to produce precision parts and components according to engineering specifications. This role involves interpreting technical blueprints, programming CNC machines using CAD/CAM software, setting up and operating machines, creating and maintaining documentation, modifying programs for efficiency, performing quality control checks, and troubleshooting machine malfunctions. The position also requires maintaining a safe and clean work environment and collaborating with engineering and production teams. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
  • Ability to read G-code
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals
  • Previous experience programming and operating CNC machines
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision and meticulous planning.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve programming and machine issues.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with 2, 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Ability to lead or assist in production and quality projects.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with production associates and support training.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel for training as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or related field preferred.
  • CNC programming or operations certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with specific machines (mills, lathes, grinders) may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously safely perform all required tasks, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures.
  • Take an active role in caring for the equipment to prevent breakdowns and defects and help increase overall equipment efficiency through 5S, TPM (total productive maintenance), and other Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Read and understand project blueprints and specifications.
  • Use CAD/CAM software to design and write programs for CNC machine tools.
  • Set up CNC machines, load materials, conduct test runs, and operate machines to ensure successful production.
  • Create and maintain records of CNC programs and machine specifications.
  • Adjust existing programs to improve efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Inspect components using precision measuring tools to ensure conformity to design specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve machine malfunctions, conduct minor repairs, and support operators with setup and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production teams to resolve issues and optimize processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
