About The Position

This role involves independently programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines, including Proto Trak machines. The individual will monitor part quality according to engineering drawings, sketches, or other documentation, including verbal instructions, using measuring devices. Tasks may include production runs of high quantities. The position requires planning, programming, and executing machining operations to produce parts of acceptable quality, aiming for the lowest cost consistent with quality standards and tolerance requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year CNC machine experience, preferably on Machining Centers
  • Minimum of three years machining experience.
  • Ability to utilize Manufacturing Software to create CNC programs.
  • Ability to setup and operate CNC machining centers and Proto Trak’s.
  • Ability to setup and operate metal working equipment including drill presses, millers, grinders and lathes without assistance.
  • Ability to select and use appropriate measuring devices for the task being monitored.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain quality of part during fabrication stages.
  • Ability to work with hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings or other documentation and to work to verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Utilize most efficient resources for fabricating and measuring parts being made or altered.
  • Be able to perform shop math, including Trigonometry functions, so parts are made and checked to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate parts to be manufactured for most cost-effective application of existing CNC equipment.
  • Plan sequence of operations for parts to be manufactured.
  • Select and requisition tooling as needed.
  • Create and maintain CNC programs and related documentation so that programs are easily retrieved, setup and run.
  • Setup one or more CNC machines and qualify programs so parts are of acceptable quality.
  • Measure parts being fabricated using scales, protractors, micrometers, calipers, indicators or other measurement devices.
  • Monitor and maintain on part quality during the machining process.
  • Monitor part quality and notify designated person if problems persist with quality despite attempts to fix the problem.
  • Monitor part quality and submit samples to Inspection during production runs.
  • Operate one or more CNC machines.
  • Be able to perform secondary operations to verbal instructions, without assistance using metal working machinery such as millers, drill presses, tapping heads, belt sanders and grinders.
  • Produce acceptable parts in a timely manner.
  • Instruct others to run one or more machines or perform secondary operations.
  • Run conventional equipment on occasion.
  • Work as a team to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Provide assistance to others.
  • Show a constant interest in learning other activities or skills.
  • Participate in job reviews when appropriate.
  • Maintain and submit accurate time records, both on drawings and in the ERP system.
  • Maintain fabrication equipment in good order and use tools and equipment as designed.
  • Clean equipment when breaking down setup.
  • Maintain orderly work area and cleanup work area at the end of the day.
  • Be consistently at work and punctual; clock job times accurately.
  • Observe company policy, safety and security procedures.
  • Perform all activities in conformance with the AGR Quality System and ISO procedures.
