About The Position

JGA Space & Defense is expanding its precision machining operations and is seeking to hire both CNC Operators and CNC Machinists. This is an opportunity for individuals at various stages of their machining careers, from entry-level to experienced professionals. The company will assess candidates' skills, experience, and qualifications during the interview process to determine the most suitable role (CNC Operator or CNC Machinist), with compensation and responsibilities tailored accordingly. The CNC Operator role is an entry-level position focused on operating CNC machining equipment for precision aerospace components. Responsibilities include safely loading/unloading parts, monitoring machine operations, performing basic inspections, and ensuring production meets quality standards. This role serves as the initial step in JGA's CNC Machining Career Path, enabling employees to develop skills for advancement to a CNC Machinist role. The CNC Machinist role involves the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines for high-quality component production. Ideal candidates will have experience with materials like stainless steel, titanium, and composites, and thrive in a detail-oriented, quality-focused setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (for CNC Machinist).
  • CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment (for CNC Machinist).
  • Experience performing machine setups independently (for CNC Machinist).
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with GD&T and precision inspection equipment (for CNC Machinist).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities (for CNC Machinist).
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC machining (for CNC Operator).
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or precision machining experience.
  • Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and composite materials.
  • Experience operating 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC equipment.
  • Fanuc control experience.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
  • Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience is preferred but not required (for CNC Operator).

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machining centers to manufacture precision aerospace and defense components.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments and report equipment concerns.
  • Set up CNC machines, install tooling, set offsets, and perform machine changeovers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
  • Machine aerospace-grade materials including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and composites.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and verify parts meet customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100 quality standards and company procedures.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and 5S workplace organization practices.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Work closely with CNC Programmers, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality to support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
