About The Position

Provides technical and supervisory leadership for employees engaged in CNC machining operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. Serves as the department's primary technical resource for CNC programming, tooling selection, machine setup optimization, troubleshooting, and employee skill development. Supervises, coaches, and coordinates daily workflow within the CNC department while supporting continuous improvement initiatives, workforce development, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, programming, tooling, machine setup, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership, or lead experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills with employees, peers, and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to enforce company policies and procedures consistently and fairly.

Responsibilities

  • Observe employees performing duties to ensure safety, quality, and production standards are consistently met.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and real-time feedback to reinforce company standards and continuous improvement.
  • Review production schedules to determine staffing and workflow priorities for the department.
  • Assign duties and clearly communicate expectations for quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Analyze production performance and work with employees to address operational challenges and improve results.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify CNC programs to support production requirements and efficiency goals.
  • Serve as the primary technical leader for CNC programming, machining processes, tooling applications, and machine optimization activities.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and setup issues to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
  • Recommend tooling selections and coordinate tooling inventory and maintenance needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to CNC programmers, operators, and setup personnel to improve capability, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Train new and existing employees on machine operation, setups, quality requirements, safety expectations, and best practices.
  • Provide structured onboarding and ongoing training using supervisor checklists and skills development plans.
  • Conduct weekly safety and information meetings and reinforce compliance with all company safety standards.
  • Monitor quality standards and coordinate corrective actions when issues arise.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Handle employee attendance, corrective actions, and other employee-related matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
  • Assist with evaluating new products and determining machining and tooling requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production, training, and departmental records as required.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and ensure employees follow housekeeping standards.
  • Wear required safety glasses, work safely, and report unsafe conditions to the Safety Manager.
  • Must be available to work overtime and Saturdays as needed to support production requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
