About The Position

Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc. is seeking a CNC Milling Machine Operator. This position offers a $2,000 hiring bonus. The operator will be responsible for preparing and operating CNC machines for tasks such as drilling, tapping, and milling, ensuring adherence to tolerances and following detailed instructions. The role involves working with standard coding and operational data, changing/mounting tools, positioning work pieces, and checking work at specific points to maintain finish and tolerance requirements. The operator will also interpret part drawings, use precision measuring instruments, report machine malfunctions and tooling difficulties, and assist with setups.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques, operations
• Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• 0-2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, tapping, milling, etc.
• Recognize tooling and procedures where tolerances are followed
• Follow detailed instructions, work from standard coding and operational data to change or mount tools and position work pieces
• Check work at specific points; adjust machine and fixture stops to maintain finish and tolerance requirements
• Work from part drawings and use required precision measuring instruments to check and inspect work
• Recognize and report machine malfunctions, tooling difficulties, etc.
• Assist with setups
