About The Position

Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc. is hiring a CNC Milling Machine Operator and offers a $2,000 hiring bonus. The operator prepares and operates CNC machines for tasks such as drilling, tapping, and milling; follows tooling procedures and tolerances; and uses instructions, standard coding, and operational data to mount or change tools and position workpieces. The role includes checking work, adjusting machine and fixture stops to meet finish and tolerance requirements, inspecting parts using drawings and precision measuring instruments, reporting machine or tooling problems, and assisting with setups. The position is based in a well-lit, clean, temperature-controlled machine shop with moderate noise. Work may involve standing, sitting, bending, climbing, occasional lifting, and working inside machines. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques, and operations.
Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
0–2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, tapping, and milling.
Recognize tooling and follow procedures that meet required tolerances.
Follow detailed instructions and use standard coding and operational data to change or mount tools and position workpieces.
Check work at specified points and adjust machine and fixture stops to maintain finish and tolerance requirements.
Work from part drawings and use required precision measuring instruments to check and inspect work.
Recognize and report machine malfunctions and tooling difficulties.
Assist with setups.
