About The Position

The CNC Mill Operator will be responsible for operating CNC machines to produce high-quality metal parts according to specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of machining processes.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience with set up and operation of CNC milling equipment.
  • Experienced in turning, drilling, boring and threading both internal and external.
  • Experienced in cutting a variety of metals and welds.
  • Familiarity with cutting tools; their applications and uses; and other tools associated with lathing equipment and machine work.
  • Familiarity with required hand tools; their applications and uses; and safe handling requirements.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to properly use micrometers, verniers, calipers and tape measures to determine tolerances.
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings
  • Ability to identify speeds and feeds on different alloys.
  • Ability to calculate using fractions and decimals as well as identify radii.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, schematics, etc.
  • Ability to use Conversational Programming.
  • Professional and maintains a great work ethic.
  • A problem solver with initiative and a result-oriented mindset.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule; OT may be required.
  • Ability to hold tolerances to .001”

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment and quality products.
  • Set up and operate CNC mill equipment.
  • Determine correct cutting tool to use to achieve required dimensions and finish tolerances.
  • Make required adjustments to machinery to compensate for material tooling, machine, or program conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve various types of operating difficulties, recommend corrective action on process failures within the department.
  • Operate hand tools as needed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • May need to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and/or hand-trucks, as necessary.
  • Choose correct tools to achieve desired product finish, based on material and other specifications.
  • Work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications, job orders, tooling instructions and standard charts to obtain such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  • Properly utilize measuring tools such as a tape measure, micrometer, vernier or caliper.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
  • Meets on-site and other attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees.
