About The Position

The CNC Maintenance Technician supports CNC Manufacturing by performing scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance, providing technical support with machine problems, and works with production to help troubleshoot equipment failures. This role involves performing scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs on CNC manufacturing machines, focusing on electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics. It also includes machinery rebuilds, reconditioning, and advanced modifications. The technician will work with rough drawings, schematic layouts, technical manuals, and general descriptions to maintain CNC machines according to engineering drawings, understanding dimensions related to repeatability, equipment capabilities, tooling, and scaled-up production. Additionally, the role requires dialogue with external vendors to ensure component availability and participation in Continuous Improvement projects. A significant part of the role involves managing hazardous waste program duties, including paperwork and assisting with hazardous waste transport companies.

Requirements

  • GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Advanced working knowledge of mechanical machine components.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical machine components.
  • Knowledge of Machine M- and G-codes.
  • Understanding of the mechanical and electrical function of CNC machines.
  • Trained in machine repair, either classroom setting or on-the-job environment.
  • Technical skill to assess and respond to chemical incidents.
  • Ability to understand and comply with hazardous waste regulations.
  • Transport of Hazardous Materials based on DOT Regulations (External training course).
  • Hazardous Waste Collection and Removal (Nobel Biocare SOP).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to troubleshoot and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Professional work experience performing machine repairs, troubleshooting, and PM, with a knowledge of standard measuring equipment of an advanced nature.

  • Additional education (college, technical/trade school) preferred.
  • Similar role within a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience must include some combination of work experience in a manufacturing environment that demands high precision and high-volume repeatability at tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs on CNC manufacturing machines in areas such as electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Conduct machinery rebuilds, reconditioning, and modifications of an advanced nature.
  • Provide technical support with machine problems and troubleshoot equipment failures with production.
  • Work with rough drawings, schematic layouts, technical manuals, and general descriptions to maintain CNC machines according to engineering drawings.
  • Understand dimensions as they pertain to repeatability, equipment capabilities, tooling, and scaled-up production.
  • Dialogue with external vendors to ensure necessary components and equipment are available.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments as requested.
  • Manage portions of the hazardous waste program at the facility.
  • Complete hazardous waste paperwork and provide it to the EHS Manager for processing.
  • Assist with hazardous waste transport companies during site visits.
