About The Position

Leidos Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist to join its team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The position involves programming, setting up, and operating machine tools, primarily CNC lathes, with backup operation of CNC mills and other manual equipment. The machinist will work on a variety of operations and machines to convert raw materials into precision finished goods that meet engineering print tolerances. The role requires working across changing projects in a fast-paced environment with little or no assistance. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of precision machining experience on CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Intermediate shop math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand basic work instructions for product fabrication.
• General knowledge and skills using hand and power tools, including deburring tools and wrenches.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed-gauge equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and electronic height gauges.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to meet the stated clearance requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Experience manufacturing large or complex aerospace components from exotic materials.
• 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic PC skills for data entry, timecard, and production time entries.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings.
• Operate CNC lathes, primarily, and provide backup operations on CNC mills and other manual equipment.
• Set up and run machines across a variety of operations to convert raw materials into precision finished goods within print tolerance specifications.
• Use fixtures or gauges to verify dimensional requirements.
• Work on different projects in an ever-changing, rapid-paced environment with little or no assistance.
• Perform other duties as required.
