About The Position

Leidos Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes, primarily CNC lathes, as well as other manual equipment. The machinist converts raw materials into precision finished goods that meet engineering drawing tolerances, using fixtures and gauges to verify dimensions. The position requires working independently across multiple projects in a fast-changing environment and being available for overtime as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of precision machining experience on CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Intermediate shop math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand basic work instructions for product fabrication.
• General knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools, including deburring tools and wrenches.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed-gauge equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, and electronic height gauges.
• Ability to lift at least 35 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
• U.S. citizenship and the required clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience manufacturing large or complex aerospace components from exotic materials.
• 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic PC skills for data entry, timecards, and production time entries.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings.
• Operate CNC lathes primarily, and provide backup operation of CNC mills and other manual equipment.
• Set up and run machines across a variety of operations and machines to convert raw materials into precision finished goods within print tolerance specifications.
• Use fixtures or gauges to verify dimensions.
• Work on different projects in a rapidly changing environment with little or no assistance.
• Perform other duties as required and work overtime as necessary.
