About The Position

As a CNC Machinist at VulcanForms, you will operate CNC Lathe and/or Mill Machines to support manufacturing based on skillset and shop demand. VulcanForms operates in an environmentally controlled, state-of-the-art facility committed to producing quality parts for our clients. We manufacture products for several industries, including aerospace, military and defense, satellite, and medical devices. This position is shift-based and is for our 1st shift.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC Milling Centers, 2-axis and multi axis, live tooling lathes, experience with the controls listed in the Key Accountabilities section above.
  • Ability to read Blueprints and have a good understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Adhere to and enforce the company's health & safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and enforce the company's quality policies and procedures
  • Good hand/eye coordination

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utilizing a pre-setter offline for tool offsets is a plus.
  • Experience with quick-change tooling is a plus.
  • Graduate of Advanced Machine Technology Course.
  • Knowledge of 5S/6S.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a CNC lathe (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading of manufacturing drawings, and first article buy-off) on FANUC, Yasnac, Mitsubishi, and controls.
  • Operate a CNC 3, 4 or 5-axis Mill (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading manufacturing drawings, and first article buy-off) on Fanuc, Yasnac, Brother, and Heidenhain controls.
  • Operate, set up, and edit programs on the machines within the department.
  • Periodically inspect parts during production to monitor for consistent dimensional and visual quality.
  • Continuously monitor equipment and tooling. In the event of a breakdown or other event that would disrupt the process.
  • Follow the instructions on the Process sheet, Drawings, and/or Programs.
  • Support training of more junior team members on all aspects of machining.
  • Helps others identify issues and troubleshoot their work.
  • Interface/communicate with Quality, Engineering, and other team members.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment clean and orderly and follows prescribed safety regulations.
