About The Position

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our night shift operations in North Phoenix. This role involves operating CNC Lathes and CNC Mills, including 5-axis machines, in a fast-paced, high-demand, quality-focused aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. The position offers a 20% night shift differential pay and requires adherence to strict compliance regulations such as ITAR. Candidates must be able to work 40+ hours per week and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Basic use of CNC control, operation, and maintenance requirements.
  • Read and understand B/P's, including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, geometric dimensions, tolerance, and other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards.
  • Loads material/parts into machine and programs.
  • Daily maintenance on machine (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips).
  • In process inspection of parts.
  • Enter tool offsets to compensate for tool wear.
  • Replacement of worn or damaged tools (inserts, boring bars, end mills drills, etc.).
  • Filling out the MOT and their Job Sheets properly.
  • Maintaining correct count of parts on the MOT for their operations.
  • Tagging hardware and recording discrepancies on proper paperwork for hardware known to be discrepant.
  • Recording inspection data at proper intervals per the Inspection Traveler or other company paperwork.
  • Communicate any job-related issues / questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead person for resolution / clarification.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Report all machine malfunctions to the lead.
  • To read initial and date reject histories attached to MOT's.
  • U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.
  • Sufficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review/study MOT’s, blueprints, and sketches to determine operations to be performed on part.
  • Determines fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, programs, and gages needed.
  • Aligns and secures holding fixture, installs cutting tools in proper holders and puts holder in machine and sets tools offsets.
  • Ensure the inspection department work flow is supporting production needs.
  • Loads programs corresponding to the operation into computer, checks tools and programs are in correct order of operation and edits program, if necessary.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Sets up and maintains proper inspection method for all machined parts and communicates with coworkers where necessary for smooth transition of work shifts.
  • Performs in-process inspections.
  • Completes all paperwork including MOTs, DMRs, Non-Conforming Material requests, and First Article Inspection Forms in accordance to our procedures and policies.
  • Identifies and records non-conforming parts as discrepant.
  • Verifies quantity, customer part number and revision to the MOT and Blueprints.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including ITAR and other compliance regulations.
