About The Position

Shape Technologies Group is seeking experienced CNC Machinists to join our team in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Ideal candidates will have experience setting up and operating equipment such as: Citizen/Swiss machines, Manual engine lathes, MA500 horizontal machining centers, and Haas EC-1600 horizontal machining centers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of proven experience setting up and operating one or more of the following machines: Citizen Swiss, Manual Engine Lathe, MA500 Horizontal Machining Center, or Haas EC-1600 Horizontal Machining Center.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, workholding, offsets, and process adjustments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues while maintaining production requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality precision components.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multiple machine platforms is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and manual machining equipment, including Citizen Swiss machines, manual engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, MA500 horizontal machining centers, and Haas EC-1600 horizontal machining centers.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, offsets, and associated equipment.
  • Adjust machine offsets, tooling, speeds, and feeds to optimize production efficiency and maintain quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Produce precision components that meet engineering specifications and customer quality expectations.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maximize productivity and part quality.
  • Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and quality issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Complete routine machine maintenance and maintain proper lubrication, coolant levels, and machine condition.
  • Accurately document inspection results, production data, and setup information.
  • Work closely with programmers, engineers, supervisors, and team members to improve machining processes and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all quality, safety, and ISO/QMS requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
